Chase Community Giving Privacy Policy

This Statement is intended to help you understand how Chase collects and uses information about you in connection with the ChaseGiving.com website and the Chase Community Giving (“CCG”) application, which includes use of any applications within the CCG Facebook application (“CCG Application”)  (collectively, “CCG Services.”).  If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy (“Policy”), please do not use the CCG Services.

We reserve the right to change the provisions of this Policy at any time.  We will alert you that changes have been made by indicating on the Policy the date it was last updated.  We encourage you to review this Policy from time to time to make sure that you understand how any personal information you provide will be used.

Information we collect: Once you allow "Access" to the CCG Application, Chase will collect and have access to the information that you have chosen to put, or update, in your Facebook profile (e.g., name, profile picture, gender, current city, networks, friend lists, pages you “Like”, etc.).  Chase also will collect any information you provide directly to Chase on the CCG Services such as an e-mail address.

Usage Information: When you use the CCG Services, our servers automatically collect information like your IP address, your Facebook profile identification number, and the unique identifier (“Device Identifier”) for the computer, smartphone, or other device (collectively, “Device”) you are using.  We may also capture certain “clickstream data” pertaining to your use of the CCG Services.  Clickstream data includes, for example, which operating system and Web browser software you use to access the CCG Services and their settings, the referring page that linked you to a page within the CCG Services, the pages you visit within the CCG Services, the next Web site you visit when you leave the CCG Services, the ads you see and click on, and any search terms you have entered through the CCG Services or a referral site.

In addition, we and our third party partners acting on our behalf may deploy cookies, local shared objects, pixel tags and other tracking technologies through the CCG Services to collect additional information.

  • Cookies. We may use “cookies” to keep, and sometimes track, information about you.  Cookies are small data files that are sent to your computer or device from a Web server.  Cookies track where you travel on the web sites within the CCG Services and what you look at.  They may store your Site viewing preferences, your account username, and/or your logged-in status.  Cookies may also enable us to relate your use of the CCG Services over time to other information about you and to customize the CCG Services for you.  Most browsers can be set to detect cookies and give you an opportunity to reject them, but refusing cookies may, in some cases, inhibit or preclude your use of the CCG Services or its features.

  • Local Shared Objects.  Local shared objects, for example “Flash cookies,” may be stored on your hard drive using a media player or other software installed on your Device.  Local shared objects can also be placed on your Device using the latest Web site development technology, HTML5.  Local shared objects operate a lot like cookies, but cannot be managed in the same way as cookies.  Depending on the software installed on your Device that allows local shared objects to be used, you may be able to manage them through your software settings

  • Clear GIFs.  We may use “clear GIFs” (aka “Web beacons” or “pixel tags”) or similar technologies in the CCG Services and/or in our communications with you.  A clear GIF is typically a one-pixel, transparent image located on a Web page or in an e-mail or other type of message, which is used to help us verify your viewing or receipt of a Web page or message.  Clear GIFs may enable us to relate your viewing or receipt of a Web page or message to other information about you, including your Personal Information.

Any or all of these activities with regard to Usage Information may be performed on our behalf by our services providers.  By using the CCG Services, you agree to our use of these tracking technologies.

Use of information: Chase will use, and in some instances store, the information it collects to administer and communicate with you regarding the CCG programs available through the CCG Services and other Chase programs. For example, your profile identification number is used to identify you when you visit the CCG Application in order to provide you access to the application functionality.

Sharing of information: Chase may share the photo and name found in your Facebook profile, as well as your CCG activity in accordance with your privacy settings on the Facebook platform each time you take an action within the CCG application (e.g., voting for a charity, commenting, “liking” the CCG or AGA applications, etc.).  Additionally, although we will not sell or rent the information we collect, we may share it with our affiliates and third parties:

  • who need your information in order to help us provide the CCG Services and other Chase programs and services
  • when you voluntarily post content to public areas of the CCG Services
  • when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or property, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud or respond to a government, judicial or other legal request
  • in connection with a corporate change including a merger, acquisition, reorganization, consolidation, liquidation, or sale of assets

Nothing herein restricts the sharing of information we collect from you in an aggregated or anonymized form that does not directly identify you, and such information may be shared in any manner and for any purpose without your consent.  This can include usage information that is not connected to personal information.

Links to Other Websites:  The CCG Services may contain links to other websites.  Any information you provide on linked pages or applications is provided directly to that third party and is subject to that third party’s privacy policy.  This Policy does not apply to such linked sites, and we are not responsible for the content or privacy and security practices and policies of these websites or any other sites that are linked to or from the CCG Services. We encourage you to learn about their privacy and security practices and policies before providing them with personal information.

Children’s Privacy: The CCG Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and Chase dose not knowingly collect or use any personal information from such children.  If you feel that we have unknowingly collected information from someone under the age of 13, please contact us immediately and this information will be removed.

Miscellaneous: Chase makes no representation that the Policy and our practices comply with laws outside of the United States.  Visitors who use the CCG Services and reside outside of the United States do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent local laws are applicable. If you reside outside of the United States, by using the CCG Services, you consent to the transfer, processing and use of your information outside of your country.
